About
Aviva E. Weinberg
I'm a physician by training and an artist by habit—two ways of paying close attention to the same thing. Medicine taught me to look for a long time before deciding what I'm seeing. Painting is where that same act of looking gets to slow all the way down.
My work returns again and again to portraits, reflections, and water—surfaces that reveal something true and something distorted at once. Seeing is the subject as much as any face, figure, or shoreline.
I work across oil, acrylic, watercolor, graphite, and digital studies in Procreate, often moving between media as an image develops. Each offers a different way of looking: building, obscuring, softening, and returning until the work finds its final form.
